Agents are people. "Business" counts the addresses read on real estate firms' own websites, often an office or team inbox; a city file holds both.

How the Iowa file is checked

Every address in the Iowa file was read on a public web page between Sep 16, 2026 and Oct 8, 2026, and a row is sold only when that page shows the email. 2,355 rows (85%) come from brokerage rosters and 427 are business addresses read on real estate firms' own websites, often an office or team inbox, counted apart from the agents.

Iowa Title Guaranty and the groundwater hazard statement

Section 515.48 of the 2026 Iowa Code lets an insurance company organized or authorized in Iowa cover any additional risk the commissioner of insurance specifically approves, "except title insurance or insurance against loss or damage by reason of defective title, encumbrances or otherwise." On its page, read in October 2026, Iowa Title Guaranty calls itself Iowa's exclusive title coverage provider, offering lenders and owners title coverage for Iowa real property.

Under § 558.69 of the 2026 Iowa Code, each declaration of value submitted to the county recorder, except as specified in subsection 8, comes with a groundwater hazard statement covering any known private burial site, well, solid waste disposal site, underground storage tank, hazardous waste or private sewage disposal system on the property; where a private sewage disposal system exists, the statement says it has been inspected or that the property is not subject to inspection.

June 2026 had 4,212 closed sales statewide, 11.5% more than June 2025, and a $265,000 median; the statewide median for December 2025 had been $240,000.

For the Des Moines metro, the Des Moines Area Association of REALTORS reported an August 2026 median of $319,725, up 5.5%, with closings down 2.1% to 1,263. Active listings there rose 11.8% to 4,702, and 9,856 homes had sold in the metro since January.

The Iowa Finance Authority said in February 2026 that local lenders had helped 2,600 Iowans buy a home in 2025 through its mortgage and down payment assistance programs, and more than 72,000 since the program began. Its awards that month went to the lenders, loan originators and REALTORS who helped the most buyers through those programs in 2025.

Local boards, NoCoast MLS and the MRED deal

The About page of Iowa REALTORS, the state association, read in October 2026, says it advocates for more than 8,200 real estate professionals in Iowa. The Des Moines Area Association of REALTORS, established in 1911 as the Des Moines Real Estate Exchange, says on its membership page, read the same month, that it has 2,700+ members from Dallas, Jasper, Madison, Marion, Polk and Warren counties. The Iowa City Area Association of REALTORS, first founded in 1941, says on a page read that month that it is home to over 500 members and hosts an MLS and a real estate school; Iowa City, Coralville and North Liberty are in its service area.

NoCoast MLS serves about 1,300 real estate professionals, HousingWire reported on October 8, 2026, through five participating REALTOR associations that include the Central Iowa, North Central Iowa, Southeast Iowa and West Central Iowa boards. Under the agreement it described, NoCoast MLS will operate as "Powered By" MRED while retaining its existing brand and complete historical listing data, and its subscribers will gain access to more agents and listings through MRED's marketplace.
