Keller Williams dominates the Rochester file. Its 255 agents outnumber RE/MAX (139) and ERA (97) put together.

That makes Keller Williams 46% of the city's branded agents, a far heavier weight than its 14% across New York.

RE/MAX is an upstate story too: 139 Rochester agents, 25% of the branded ones, while the brand holds 4% statewide.

How the Rochester file is checked

Every address in the Rochester file was read on a public web page between Sep 16, 2026 and Oct 8, 2026, and a row is sold only when that page shows the email. 554 rows (95%) come from brokerage rosters and 29 are business addresses read on real estate firms' own websites, often an office or team inbox, counted apart from the agents.

Monroe County prices past $300,000

The Greater Rochester Association of REALTORS, known as GRAR, is the board for Rochester agents, and its public property search runs at search.grar.net.

Monroe County set a price record in spring 2026. Its median sale reached $308,500 in May, above the old high of $300,000 from June 2025 and 7.9% over the $286,000 of May 2025, while closed sales fell 17.6% to 512 (Rochester Business Journal). GRAR's president told the paper the county was still in "a pretty strong sellers' market."

Lead checks and a city reassessment

Rochester ties lead checks to rental housing. Since July 1, 2006, the city's lead paint ordinance has added a lead hazard inspection to the certificate of occupancy for rentals; buildings with three or more units renew every 3 years and one and two unit buildings every 6 years (City of Rochester).

The city reassesses its roughly 65,000 parcels at once, about every four years. In the 2024 round the city put the average value up 19.3%, from $76,145 to $90,864.

The University of Rochester, counted with UR Medicine and its affiliates, reported more than 39,000 employees in December 2025, and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York calls it the region's largest employer.
