Agent Verify for Shopify
A free app for stores that sell to real estate agents: sign riders, open house signs, lockboxes, closing gifts, agent marketing print.
Get it on the Shopify App Store
Agent Verify finds the real estate agents among your customers. It compares each customer's email address with US agents found on brokerage rosters and state license registers. When there is a match it:
- tags the customer agent-verified,
- adds their brokerage, city and state to the customer record, and
- adds them to a Verified real estate agents segment you can use for email and ads.
You can then give verified agents an automatic discount, and keep some products for agents only.
Set it up
- Install Agent Verify and open it from Apps. It checks all your existing customers straight away. New customers are checked as they sign up.
- Agent pricing: turn on "Give verified agents an automatic discount", pick the percent, and choose all products or only products tagged agent-price. Save. No code to hand out.
- Agents-only products: tag products agents-only and turn the setting on. Anyone who isn't a verified agent is asked, at checkout, to sign in with the email address their brokerage lists.
- Agents we missed: tag them agent-approved and they get the same access.
The tags
- agent-verified (customers): added by Agent Verify on a match. Never removed by the app.
- agent-approved (customers): added by you. Agent Verify never touches it.
- agent-price (products): the discount covers only these, if you choose that option.
- agents-only (products): only verified or approved agents can check these out.
What gets added to a matched customer
Brokerage, city, state, where we found them (brokerage roster or state license register), the month we last saw them there, and the date of the match. They are stored with the customer as read-only app fields, and the app shows them in its Verified agents table. (Shopify's customer page shows the agent-verified tag, not the app's fields.)
Try it with the demo record
Add a customer with the email jane.demo@usrealtorlist.com. It is a fictional record, not a real person: within a few seconds it is tagged agent-verified with Demo Realty, Austin, TX, and marked "Demo record" in the app.
How matching works, and what we keep
Customer email addresses travel from Shopify to Agent Verify over an encrypted connection, are compared with our records in memory, and are then dropped. Agent Verify does not store your customers, does not add them to our own data, and sends nothing anywhere except back into your store. Full detail: privacy policy, Agent Verify section.
Limits worth knowing
- Agent pricing and agents-only checks need the buyer to be signed in to a customer account.
- A match is not a license check.
- US agents only.
- The full "check all customers" runs once a day at most; new customers are always checked right away.
Questions
Is it free?
Yes. Agent Verify is free, with no plans and no charges.
Which Shopify plans does it work on?
All of them. Agent pricing and agents-only products use Shopify Functions, which work on every plan when the app comes from the Shopify App Store.
Does it email my customers?
No. It only adds a tag and a few fields to customers in your own store. What you do with the "Verified real estate agents" segment is up to you.
Do you keep a copy of my customers?
No. Each email address is compared with our records in memory and then dropped. We keep counts (how many were checked and matched), never the addresses. The full detail is in our privacy policy.
An agent I know was not matched. What now?
Tag them agent-approved in Shopify. They get agent pricing and agents-only access the same as a matched agent, and Agent Verify never changes that tag.
Why did a guest not get agent pricing?
Shopify only tells a discount who the buyer is once they are signed in to a customer account. Agents sign in at checkout (or before) and the price updates.
Does it check real estate licenses?
No. A match means the email address appears on a US brokerage roster or state license register we hold, with the month we last saw it. It is not a live license lookup.
What happens when I uninstall?
Shopify removes the agent discount and the agents-only checkout rule. The tags and fields on your customers stay, because they are your data. You can remove the tag in bulk from Customers.
Does it remove the tag if an agent leaves the business?
No. Agent Verify only ever adds agent-verified. Remove it yourself if you need to.
